Aubrey contacted me end of last summer but wanted to do her shoot in the spring. So we patiently waited for spring to arrive and finally found a time for our shoot a couple weeks ago. It was not the warmest day but a few things like the trees and tulips were in bloom. As you see from her quote Aubrey is all about nature and loves being photographed! That makes it so much more enjoyable to work with somebody! And yes we kept going forever until there was no light left.

I loved all the outfits - her shoot in 3 words would be VIBRANT. NATURAL. FLOWY. She got her hair done by my friend Madeline Raspe of MAD ABOUT HAIR. Loved her braid and long hair. We had such a blast around Miller and the beach. Her dress was perfect! We were so happy to capture some golden light and lots of nature shots! She told me she just got a new puppy so the next day we met for a few minutes around the Square to capture some shots of her and Luna and her viola.

18 Questions with Aubrey

1. What's your favorite song right now? What do you play on repeat?

Although I do not have a favorite song at the moment, I have been listening to Rex Orange County a bunch! I love listening to Indie pop.

2. What are 3 things on your bucket list?

At some point in my life, I’d like to visit Yellowstone National Park and France, and in college, I’d love to study abroad.

3. How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?

Speaking as a senior, it does not take me quite as long to get ready as my freshman self. Nowadays, it only takes me about 20 minutes to get ready.

What's most important to me is the location; I love the beach with wide open skies, somewhere where there happens to be a field full of flowers nearby. I'm most excited about taking photos with someone who loves to take them as much as I do, as I can go on for hours. I'm really passionate about getting the right photo at the right time, and am always willing to stop what I'm doing to capture the moment. - Aubrey (as written in her inquiry ;-))

4. If you could teleport where would you go?

I would teleport to the top of the highest mountain with the greatest view; that way, I wouldn’t actually have to climb it.

5. If you were a super hero, what's your power?

I would love to have the ability to time travel- it would be so cool to get to experience another generation.

6. What animal would you want to be?

Being a bird would be fun; as a bird, you could fly to wherever you desired.

7. If you were famous, what would you be famous for?

As I am very into science, I would be famous for being scientifically innovative. I’d love to seek a cure to a seemingly incurable disease, or construct something to better the lives of others.

8. Favorite cosmetic product you can't live without?

Not a day goes by where I don’t use my mascara- I could be completely bare-faced but my lashes will still be coated. I use Maybelline’s Rocket mascara.

9. What fashion trend do you think is ridiculous?

I thought the wavy eyebrow trend was pretty wack, as I’d never seen anything like it before.

10. What is your favorite outfit ever?

I walked into Express in Michigan City this last week, and I saw this really long, pretty dress with flowers. Although it was quite the investment, I had to buy it- I actually ended up wearing it for the beach photos.

11. What do you think is the most annoying habit of humans?

I cannot stand when people go to tell you something, then immediately follow it by “nevermind.” Why would they bring it up in the first place? Now I’m curious.

12. What would be the name of a movie you star in?

I love the set and idea of The Notebook, so maybe I’d star in a remake called “The Journal.”

13. Favorite part of high school?

I loved being able to talk to my close friends everyday- I’m going to miss them once I go away for college.

14. What is your favorite treat that you'd eat all the time if you could?

Dark chocolate and coconut is my favorite combination in the world. Any treat involving either- or both- is something I could eat all day.

15. What can you not live without?

I could not live without my niece, Madi, as she never fails to brighten my day everyday.

16. Best book you've ever read?

Although I do not read much, my favorite book has always been “I’ll Give You the Sun.” My favorite quote from said book is “maybe some people are just meant to be in the same story.”

17. If you could travel or move anywhere, where would that be?

If I were able to, I’d move to San Francisco, California, or somewhere around there. The weather is bearable for the most part, and it is beautiful.

18. Why do you think it's important to do senior portraits? What was the best part?

I think it’s important to capture this moment so that it can be cherished for the rest of your life- “Good times come and go, but the memories will last forever.” It’d be great to have photos to reminisce about your last year of high school; after all, it took 12 years of dedication to get there. The best part I feel was not only getting to dress up, but getting to express myself through the use of my surroundings.

Aubrey, thank you for being so natural and fun to be around! Say Hi to your Puppy!

Best of luck for all your future plans! I think I am going to read that book this summer...while I eat dark chocolate with coconut which is also my favorite ;-)
