Chicagoland Photographer | Back to the 80's - Girls just wanna have fun
The 80s was the best decade ever. It’s a fact, you can google that. I was fortunate enough to live through the 80’s in all it’s glory. I remember cutting up an expensive pair of my mom’s leather gloves and decorating it with rhinestones and wearing it pretending to be Madonna.
Every few years the 80s experience a comeback in fashion and I will love 80s music forever and always. I am so happy that even my kids caught on and know 80s songs! During the 80s everything was allowed, big frizzy hair and crazy clothing. It was all about expressing yourself - the crazier the better. It was all about trying something new and not worrying what others say.
Maddie of Mad About Hair and I have been wanting to do something 80’s inspired for a while. When she recently reconnected with Monique of Monique Alexis Artistry, we knew we found the perfect make-up artist for this. We decided to shoot in Chicago because the city lights would give the looks that bit of extra.
The main agenda was to have some fun! Because you know ‘girls just wanna have fun’ …
We left Monique complete freedom on the make-up and we loved how it turned out! Our model Hannah had the neon ‘paint splatter’ eye makeup and her look was a bit more edgy. Danyel had a softer look and we wanted it to be pretty but still editorial. For some it was Homecoming weekend so we thought it would be cool to go for an 80s inspired homecoming look!
Maddie did amazing on the hair. She just worked her magic and it came out so cool! Don’t you just love the big braid and knots in the hair?
Monique recommended her stylist friend Brittani of Ready Set Vintage to style our shoot. We met up in Chicago and Brittani arrived with a huge suitcase full of goodies. Our models handled the tricky outdoor dressing room situation like pros and rocked every look. Brittani knew just how to style each look and let’s just say we drew a crowd here and there. People are curious but seriously just ‘beat it.’ lol
This was such a fun shoot! Thanks girls for making it possible. Long live the 80s. Sweet Dreams are made of this. Now back to the future.
I’ll be back!
